Dr. Sirkka Shikongo and Dr. Lavinia Uuyuni, heads this department. Our main reference laboratory also provides testing for the screening diagnostics for allergic conditions and autoimmune diseases (such as SLE, Rheumatoid arthritis, etc), with some specialized tests being referred to South Africa due to limited capacity and specialty. The clinical pathology team also provides consultation services in all aspects of clinical chemistry and immuno-chemistry testing, including endocrine disorders such as diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, to name a few.
The team also offers serological testing for screening and confirmation of virological infections including viral hepatitis, HIV, TORCH, among others. Serological diagnostic testing is also performed for syphilis diagnosis mainly for screening for antenatal women, routinely as requested by clinicians as well as for occupational purposes, when need arises.
